My least favorite chore

What is your least favorite chore? Mine is DEFINITELY laundry. Ugh. Dragging the bin full of dirty laundry over to the washer, sorting through the man-smell-infested clothes, then sorting the clothes that need to hang to dry and those that go in the dryer. THEN you have to take them out (in a perfect world: when they're still warm) and fold them. And, the worst step of all, you have to carry them back to where they belong in what always seems like dozens of piles. AHHHHHH! My husband knows that I hate to do it and has kindly taken over the last step. He's willing to take over the other steps, but isn't it pathetic that I want it done a specific way?

Bahahahaha!

Well, besides the fact that I (obviously) have a very-least-favorite chore, I always seem to be able to eventually get it done. And it seems that when I get it done the fastest, I end up using my HugaMonkey.

What about you? How has your least-favorite-chore been made better when you're hugging your monkey?

Testimonials from our Fans

We are excited to be so close to 500 fans on Facebook. In celebration we asked for our followers to write a quick review of their HugaMonkey sling. This is what they said:

Erika Silva I've used other slings in the past, but nothing compares to you! My daughter is one happy monkey in hers and it let's me be able to do things for my other kids. Seriously my house would be a disaster w/o hugamonkey. You can also get a good workout by putting your baby in your sling and vacuuming! :)

Tasha Eagar I was just scrapbooking the other night and was looking at pictures of a vacation where I used my Hugamonkey for everything we did; walking to the park, going on a hike, swimming, playing tag, you name it, my baby was in it. It made it possible for me to join in all the fun and my monkey too!

Beth Gonzales O'Neill I love my hugamonkey! I get more done around the house. But the fun part is going out in public where people get a kick out of seeing my lil monkey siting in her pouch (like a kangaroo). We LOVE Hugamonkey!

Best Rated Baby Carriers - You Decide

The best rated baby carriers are the not the ones the companies tell you are the best. They are not the ones that paid reviewers decide are the best. They aren't the ones that customers are raving about - or the celebrities, either. They aren't even the ones that your best friend or mom tells you are the best.Best Rated Baby Carriers

The best rated baby carriers are the ones that fit you the best. Sure, those other things can help you decide which ones are going to be the best for you, which ones are getting the best ratings, don't have safety issues, and best suits your needs, but ultimately, you decide.

The best baby carrier is going to be the one that complements you and your daily needs. Like if it will - fit into your purse or baby bag; hold up on a hike through the woods or the mall; make your days a little less frenzied; go in and out of the wash without shrinking, fraying, or falling apart; keep your baby happy and safe; keep you happy and safe; and numerous other individual factors.

Quite simply, the best rated baby carrier is the one that you rate. Making decisions about choosing a baby carrier for your needs takes research, advice, and testing. But, it will all boil down to which one is going to make you and your baby the happiest.

So, don't follow the crowd, don't buy a baby carrier just because the price tag says it should be the best, don't get a carrier just because your mother or best mommy friend told you to, and don't buy one just because it happens to be the one Brad Pitt is wearing. You decide what's best for you. You and baby will be much happier that way.

Comparing Brands Like Bjorn Baby Carrier

You'll find a whole lot of choices as you're looking for the ideal baby carrier for you. You'll find Mei Tai, Maya Wraps, Ellaroo, New Native, and Baby Bjorn baby carriers and many more, including our own HugaMonkey baby slings. They all have their pros and cons, and we aren't going to tell you one is better than the other.

Essentially, it's up to you and what you need, what you're comfortable with, what works best for what you will use it for, and how much money you want to spend.

Some have adjustable rings and fabrics so babywearers of all sizes and shapes can use a single carrier. Others have some bells and whistles the others don't have, which may make it more appealing for your uses. Still others are simple and versatile and can convert easily from daily house stuff to outdoor uses. And others have a price tag that fit your burgeoning baby budget better.

The best thing you can do is make a checklist of all the places, uses, and needs that you have. Do you just need one for managing other children and household duties while keeping baby close to you? Will you want something that will work well in and out of the house? Do you just need for you or will others like dads, babysitters, or other family members want to use it, too?

Most importantly, you have to consider the safety factors, comfort, and how complicated its going to be. When you sift through the brands, keep your checklist handy and make sure you're getting the most for your money.

If you decide that a Baby Bjorn baby carrier is going to be better than a Moby Wrap, but not as good as a New Native, then you know where to start. Check off the ones that aren't going to work or are out of your budget. Keep whittling it down until you find the perfect baby carrier for you!

Characteristics Of A Best Rated Baby Carrier

What exactly gives a baby carrier high ratings? Starting this whole parenthood thing can be overwhelming. You'll receive more advice than you could ever want from friends, relatives, and even perfect strangers in the grocery store.

As you begin to look around for those staple baby accessories, you’re probably thinking a lot about finding the best rated baby carrier—the best rated by everybody!

Best rated means that it is comfortable. For both you and the baby! Best rated means that it is sleek and mobile so that you won’t be forever transitioning the baby from one type of carrier to another depending on the excursion at hand. Best rated means that your husband can use it without compromising his manhood (no frilly stuff). Best rated means that your arm doesn’t fall off after carrying the baby through the store and that you don’t develop chronic back or shoulder pain.

Essentially, the best kind of baby carrier is a baby sling. This is a piece of fabric designed to wrap and fasten securely around you, hold your baby close to you, but still leaving your hands free to take care of the million things that you need to or love to do.

Baby slings are comfortable, hardly take up any space when not in use, can be used equally by mothers, fathers, sitters, friends, and family, and allow your baby to fit to the contours of your body rather than placing stress on any one limb or joint. In every aspect, baby slings fall into the category of best rated baby carriers.

Our Hugamonkey baby carrier slings have a simple and effective design, and look good on both men and women.

How to Find the Best Baby Carrier Backpack

If you’re like most frugal shoppers, the best of anything means the least expensive. Unfortunately, when we’re talking about the best baby carrier backpack, least expensive just may not quite cut it. Instead, the qualities that make it the best are the details that make it safe for baby and comfortable for both of you.

The first thing to do when considering which one will be best for you is to think about where you will be using it. If you are an outdoors person, is this going to be for walks, hikes, and afternoons in the park? If you are more of an indoors woman, then you might be carrying baby to the mall, the store, the library and the like.

For any kind of lengthy trip or strenuous walking, a carrier that fits like a backpack may be a better match. For shorter visits and more in-and-outs of the car seat, a better option might be a carrier that fits on the front, like a kangaroo pouch.

Of course, for either type, the best baby carrier backpacks are lightweight, durable, and even stylin’. That’s right. You can make a fashion statement with a baby carrier if you find the right one. Sites all across the internet carry a variety of patterns and fabrics so that you can wear your baby flair. If spunky is your thing, that’s cool. If you are more of a down-to-earth mom, there are carriers and backpack with solid earthy colors that are just right.

No matter what your style, you can keep your little charmer snug and safe in a baby carrier backpack built just for you.

HugaMonkey has baby sling carriers built from one piece of fabric designed for all kinds of practical and fun uses. From infants to toddlers, our baby slings can make your life easier and keep baby happy every day!

Why You Need A Baby Carrier For Pool Use

Babies love water. They're naturals in it. If you think about it, they grew up in water. In Mommy's belly, of course, but they were still lavishing in warm liquid not knowing any other environment.

In fact, some pools have lifeguards and swim teachers that specialize in baby swimming.Baby Carrier for Pools And if you've ever seen babies in the water at these lessons, you realize how much they remember and enjoy being in the water.

Most naturally hold their breath when they go under the water. They are also very buoyant. Mostly because they have a lot of insulating fat, but they seem at ease as they happily bob around.

Teaching or having your baby in swim lessons is one of the best things you can do for your child. If you've seen four-year-olds or older children trying to learn how to swim, hold their breath, and learn all things water, you may have noticed that most of them are tense, afraid, or hesitant.

As all of us grow, we become more marked by our fears and mishaps. Water covers 71 percent of the earth's surface, and only 3 percent of that is fresh water. Learning how to swim is obviously a skill we should have.

If you don't have opportunities for swim lessons, you can still teach your baby to enjoy the water with a baby carrier for pools. These brilliant carriers keep baby strapped to your body, so you can both enjoy the water.

Using a baby carrier for the pool is a terrific way to alleviate any future fears of the water, and will help your baby (and you!) remember how wonderful the water is. There are some great baby carriers available. Just remember to keep safety and comfort in mind when you choose one.

Can I Find A Baby Carrier On eBay?

Looking for a baby carrier can be simply mindboggling with a plethora of models available. You can find them everywhere these days. There are specialized small companies that have designed their own baby carriers and slings, and there are big companies that have their own line of carriers and backpacks.

You can also go to the big online outlets, like eBay and Amazon, and find baby carriers. In fact, eBay has a practical buying guideline page for choosing baby carriers.

Of course, not all models and styles are available on eBay, but using it to get started and getting a good idea of what's available isn't a bad idea. Baby carriers run the gamut of anything you carry your baby in, so there isn't just one type. Baby carriers include backpacks, slings, front packs, as well as buggies, strollers, and carriers and trailers for bikes.

With so many kinds of baby carriers out there, you may be overwhelmed with your choices. The best thing to do is evaluate your lifestyle.

  • Will you be spending more time at home than anywhere else? A sling might be your best bet.

  • Are you super active and want to stay that way? A good stroller, buggy, backpack, or bike carrier will best suit your needs depending on the activity you prefer.

  • Will you be in and out, off to the store, to the park, the races? Then you might want to get more than one kind.

In fact, most parents have more than one kind of baby carrier so they can adapt when they need to. Finding a good baby carrier on eBay, or just getting some great ideas of what's out there is a efficient way to prepare, or fill any babywearing gaps you might have.

Cozy, Comfy Cotton Baby Carrier

Cotton. It's a pretty wonderful fiber. It's the most used fiber in the world. Most Americans associate cotton with our Southern states, but it is grown all over the planet. It's been spun and turned into fabric for over 7 thousand years in the Middle East, India, Peru, and Mexico.

It's amazing to think that a puffy flower encased in a prickly bur could be so popular for several millennia. Used to make fabric for nearly everything that uses fabric, the story of cotton is about a literal powerhouse.

cotton baby carrier

It needs certain conditions to grow, like frost-free warmth and lots of sun, medium rainfall, and heavy soil. Since there's plenty of that in the mid-ranges of the planet, we are lucky to have ample room to grow the beloved cotton.

Of course, you naturally think of your favorite threadbare comfy cotton t-shirt or jeans when you think of cotton, or all things fabric – but did you know cotton is also used in space suits, tents, coffee filters, candlewicks, paper, twine, bookbinding, medical supplies, and so much more - and they used to make fire hoses out of cotton?

And it's not just for making stuff, the oil and meal is use for food! You can use cottonseed oil just like any other vegetable oil – wonder what they calorie count is. And the meal is used for livestock feed, while the hulls are use as livestock roughage. They even use the tiny little tiny hairs, or lint, for paper or refine it even further for medical and cosmetic uses.

How To Compare A Baby Carrier

What does it mean to compare? Really, what exactly are you doing when you compare? Yes, the obvious - you're seeing if A is better or worse than B. You're deciding which.

And for the why? Because you either want high quality, a good price, or both.

When and where, of course is once, twice, or a whole bunch of times.

What? For the sake of where we are, let's say you're comparing baby carriers.

How? Now, that's the real question. The how gives the details that matter. How do you compare baby carriers? Think about it. What are you thinking about when you compare?

You look at price and safety, certainly. You may jiggle it around a bit, give some tugs and squeezes, feel the fabric, maybe even put it on if it's a backpack, front pack, or sling. You may ask questions, read some of the instructions or safety warnings. You're absorbing details with your senses.

Now, you might be thinking – ookkaayy …

Watch people shop - most people will hear and see the details, fewer will notice the smell and feel, and unless you're comparing foods, a measly few will throw in taste. (In the case of babies, you might actually want to taste because they definitely will. Just wash it when you get home – someone else may have done that, too.)

The point is, how many details are you really paying attention to? And how many of those details are you visualizing? For some people, this may seem like a fairly stupid question. These people are the natural visualizers. For many, however, images don't play a big part in detail gathering.

What if you are buying a baby carrier online? You can't use all your senses. Your eyes, maybe your ears if there's some kind of video, but you can't smell, taste, or touch. You have to imagine the baby carrier based on the information you're getting. Makes sense to get as much information as possible.

Does A Comfortable Baby Carrier Exist?

Finding comfortable baby carriersOne of the biggest complaints about baby carriers is the extra stress on babywearer backs. Following that is discomfort caused by buckles, rings, extra fabric, and just a general feeling of not fitting right.

The last thing you want or can afford to do is buy two dozen baby carriers to find the comfortable one. Even if you had the time or money to test-drive a different carrier every day until you find the proverbial golden ticket, do you really want to?

One thing we do treasure is comfort. Most people like to feel comfortable with their surroundings, what they're wearing, a topic of discussion, their level of work, their housemates, the chairs and couches they sit in, the beds they sleep in, and in their vehicles.

No matter what you do, whether you're a gardener, salesperson, public speaker, CEO, college student, factory worker, housewife or husband, or a race car driver, you surround yourself with things you're comfortable with and in.

Why shouldn't you want comfort with a baby carrier? Your baby can be a very demanding individual. More stubborn than kudzu, tougher than a hostile audience, changing needs that are faster than a Porsche, louder than a … well, you get the idea.

Babies need your attention, and so does your life. The last thing you want to be plagued with is a uncomfortable, ill-equipped, sigh-provoking baby carrier.

The key? As you look through your baby carrier choices, look carefully at much you'll have to do to secure around you and baby, how it will sit on your body, where the weight will sit and pull, and most importantly how baby's head and body look in it.

5 Tips On Choosing A Child Back Pack Carrier

When you're searching for a good child backpack carrier, you may be amazed at the variety of brands, models, and uses. From topped-out mega-combo camping backpacks/baby seat to simple sets of straps to take quick trips in, you may have more choices than you thought.

How do you decide? Here are 5 tips to help you sift through the shelves.

Test-Wearing: If you are at a physical store, rather than buying online, take the child backpack carrier you're interested in for a stroll around the store. Put stuff in it to imitate baby weight. If there's more than one that you like, take them all for a 5minute cruise. Imagine how it would feel in two hours … four hours.

Before and Afters: As you decide which child backpack carrier you like, you'll also want to check its functionality and practicality. What is happening before you use the back pack? How about after its use?

Imagine scenarios to picture yourself, baby and backpack getting into and out of. Will it store or stow easily? How much room will it take up? Does it fold up? Is it squish-able?

4 Things To Look For In A Child Baby Carrier

Got places to go? Things to do? Need something that can adapt to your busy life and your young child's needs? You've no doubt looked at many a child baby carrier. But, you need something that can accommodate all the stuff you want to do.

Mom's are busy people. Whether you're a stay-at-home mom or a career and baby juggling mom, there's a lot to do. Finding a child baby carrier that fits your lifestyle and your baby child's needs is simply a necessity. So, what do you look for?

First, you need to decide which kind of child baby carrier you need. Do you need something like a baby sling that keeps baby close to your body and is easy to carry? Would you rather have a backpack that can go on the front or back for day trips? Or something on wheels that you can push? Maybe some combination of the three.

It depends on what you'll likely do the most. You may need more than one option, but some of these brands can do several things. Like some slings can be worn to cradle, sit upright, or swing around to the back.

Second,  check for safety and durability. Safety should be the number one criteria for anything associated with your child. You can find safety reports all over the internet with whole child baby carrier safety sites.

Third, look for affordability. But, you'll have to budget for the bells and whistles on your child baby carrier if that's what you need. If you try the super budget model, without all the additions that you need on it, it's just not going to be worth it.

What's The Best Age For Baby Carrier Use?

Best Age for Baby Carrier? When it comes to everything baby, most mothers and dads are reading up on all the things they shouldn't and shouldn't do. Because so many products have changed over the last few decades and we are much more safety-conscious than our mothers and grandmothers were, handed-down advice isn't always the best advice.

Now grandmas, don't be offended. We know you did the best with what you had. We understand that the doctors gave you opium-derivative drugs for your baby, lead paint was normal for babies to chew on in their cribs, and it was OK to ride bikes without helmets. We are all just grateful to have survived.

Now, we know better, and it's very likely that 40 years from now our grandchildren will be appalled at some of the things we did. But, that story is yet to be told.

As for our original discourse, which was about getting educated in raising babies. There is tons of information about the do's and do not's of baby-raising and we'd be here for the better part of a month if we tried to explain it all, so we're going to concentrate on a common question.
