With the recent baby sling recall, our minds got wondering and wandering about what other baby products have been recalled. We wanted to see what's been recalled and why, and the volume. Here's a nifty infographic of all that info - the what, why, and when of the baby gear recall world.

Why is it that month after month products are recalled because of drawstring strangulation hazards and other stuff that is so obvious it requires no effort to test.
It's almost like manufactures just make something and hope it doesn't get examined knowing that even if it does get recalled they've already sold enough to make money and the financial implications of a recall are next to zero.
Same goes for the manufactures that appear on the recall lists month after month. Do they learn nothing from the past or are they totally unconcerned about safety and only concerned about making money. There should be a limit to how many times you can have a product recalled after which your company is banned from importing to the US.

When I was deciding which sling to purchase I did a lot of online research and checked out all of the brands. I ALMOST went with the Infantino one that was recalled, but after reading the many (many!)negative reviews from parents I bought the one I currently have from Hugamonkey. My girl (now 1) STILL loves it and so does her Mommy.

This is really interesting, thanks! I'd like to see a graph that compared the number of items recalled, not just the type, too.

I like the graphics and the overall look of this. I will return and recommend it to my friends. I would also like it if you were able to look at Medical Insurance and dental insurance and put them through the same treatment in terms of companies that are family/kid friendly and those that are not!
