Baby Carrier Nursing Is Possible, Hurray!
One of the inconvenient things about having your baby is nursing schedules. Babies have a different agenda when it comes to meals. They're hungry when they're hungry. Unfortunately, it's not always an ideal time when baby needs a feeding.
If you're a mom, you've probably experienced those semi-embarrassing moments when you've tried to go someplace "private" because your baby is hungry. Thinking you're all incognito, you go ahead and start feeding baby only to have someone walk in and find you in a conspicuous position.
It's not really anything to be embarrassed about, but we live in a culture that frowns on public exposure. Some places actually ban any kind of nursing on their premises. Not that you want to bare all to strangers, but when baby is hungry and you aren't in a convenient place to nurse, you have to do something.

Baby carriers are wonderful for nursing. You can literally nurse just about anywhere with a good baby carrier sling without anyone even noticing!
The trick is finding the right baby carrier for nursing. Not all baby carrier slings are ideal for this. If the carrier is a bag type, hangs too low, or doesn't have enough fabric to cover you and baby, then it's not going to work.
You want to look for a baby carrier that includes nursing in its design. Here are some things to look for:
- Does the baby carrier accommodate a variety of positions for baby? Can he sit upright, as well as lay down?
- Does it position itself right for you? A good baby carrier sling will settle above your waist, not on your hip bones or below it. It will also hang easily across your shoulders without pulling, binding, or pinching.
- Is there enough fabric to pull over you and baby for nursing? You should have enough extra fabric, but not so much that it becomes a safety hazard for carrying baby.
You don't have to take a bunch of extra blankets, sequester yourself into a closet or restroom, or miss out on any social time with the right baby carrier for nursing.
HugaMonkey baby carrier slings are perfect for nursing in any environment! Made to fit you and baby with enough fabric to nurse without committing social no-no's, our one-piece slings are comfortable, snug, and accommodate a variety of activities.
